Lesson 1: Salvation
Aim
To ensure that the one going through these lessons is truly a born-again child of God who has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

1. What must one do to be saved?

SALVATION PRAYER
A. Prayer of Surrender to Christ
Lord Jesus, today, I know that I am a sinner who is incapable of saving myself. Lord, forgive me my sin of living independently of You and cleanse me now, in Your precious blood. I open the door of my life (heart) and receive You as my Saviour and Lord. Come now into my life and take control of the throne of my heart. I surrender my whole person: spirit, soul, body to Your Lordship. Make me the kind of person you want me to be. Thank You for coming into my life and giving me new life, as You have promised. Amen.
B. Prayer to Receive Jesus Christ
Father God, I realize that Jesus is not in my heart. I have been ruling over my own life and doing what I like. I have sinned against You, and I am sorry for turning my back on You. Please forgive me and cleanse all my sins with the sinless blood of Jesus. I want Jesus to come into my heart and take control of my life. Lord Jesus, I open the door of Saviour. Write my name in the Book of life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to live as a born-again Christian. Thank You for making me Your child, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
C. Prayer of Repentance and Faith
Dear Lord Jesus, I accept that I am a sinner and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I confess You as my Saviour and Lord. I want to trust and follow You only, all the days of my life. Thank You for coming into my life and giving me new life. Amen.

Prayer: Thank God for saving you and making you His child.
Lesson 2: Assurance of Salvation
Aim
To help the new believer discover, through the Scriptures, his position in Christ and God’s promise of eternal life to all who receive Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.

Lesson 3: How to deal with sin
Aim
To help the new believer discover, through the Scriptures, the dangers of sin and how to handle and avoid sin in one’s life.

Galatians 5:19-20; James 1:13-14; 1 Corinthians 10:13; Matthew 26:41; James 4:7; Psalm 32:5; Proverbs 28:13; Ephesians 1:7

2. Which of the sins in these verses are you struggling with in your life? (We shall soon discover how you can overcome them.)

C. Read 1 Corinthians 10:13.
6. What is the nature of temptation that we often encounter?
7. What has God promised to do when we face temptations?

Prayer: Thank God for the blood of Jesus that washes our sins. Pray that you may be delivered from any besetting sin in your life. (A besetting sin is a sin you commit over and over again.)
Lesson 4: The Bible
Aim
To help the young Christian know the importance of the Scriptures and understand the various ways of assimilating the message of the Bible and applying it to his life.

John 20:31; 2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Peter 2:2; Joshua 1:8; Deuteronomy 6:6-9; Psalm 119:11, 105.

1. What is one important reason for the writing of the Scriptures?

2. What does it mean to say the Scriptures are inspired by God?

Teaching: What I need to know about God, myself and others.
Rebuking: What I need to stop believing or doing.

Lesson 5: Bible Study
Aim
To introduce the new believer to the importance of Bible reading, Bible study and meditation on the Word of God, stressing the need to acquire a daily habit of doing so.

Psalm 19:7-11; 1 Peter 2:2; 2 Timothy 2:15; Proverbs 4:20-22; 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
Discussion Questions
A. Read Psalm 19:7-11.
1. Find a suitable time for daily Bible Study. Begin your Bible Study with the simple prayer: “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law” (Psalm 119:18).
2. What attributes does the Word of God, Bible or the Law of the Lord have?
3. What benefits do we derive from Bible Study?
B. Read 1 Peter 2:2.

How to do your Daily Bible Study
For your Bible Study, you need your Bible, Notebook, Pen, and Devotional Study Material. If you do not have a Devotional Study Material like this one, you can study the Bible Book by Book or passage by passage, using the following format, starting from John’s Gospel:
Start with Prayer: Psalm 119:18.
Read the selected passage for the day, at least, two times. You can read two different versions: New International Version (NIV), Good News Bible (GNB), or New Living Translation (NLT), and if you like The New King James (NKJV).
From the passage, answer the following questions:
i. What does the passage teach about God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit?
ii. Is there any good example for me to follow or a bad example to avoid?
iii. Is there any warning for me to heed?
iv. Is there any command for me to obey?
v. Is there any promise for me to believe or hope for?
vi. What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
Application or Response:
Decide to apply the truth you have learnt for the day. Share your newly-discovered truth(s) with others when you have the opportunity. Select a memory verse and memorize it for the day and meditate on it all day long (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 119:97).
